About us

For the last semester of our senior year, we did this thing called Bloody Mary Friday (pretty self-explanatory) which, no surprise, was the best ever. Then we graduated and moved to Virginia and New York, which means there were no more Bloody Mary Fridays. We started this blog because after getting matching degrees in English, we are having hilariously opposite summers (farming in nowhersville vs. journalist in Harlem) and we have literally no friends where we're living. It's a poor substitute for Bloody Mary Friday, but it's good enough for the time being.

These are some of the main things you need to know about Serena:
Serena goes to Renaissance Fairs, tells people she believes in the Loch Ness Monster and inter-dimensional string beings, edited our college's literary magazine for a semester, wrote her senior thesis on mimetic theory of desire in Flannery O'Connor (it was kind of brilliant), and wears silk shirts a lot. At the moment, she's interning on a farm somewhere in south Virginia because she's not totally sure what she wants to do with her life (What?? A 22-year-old who doesn't have the next ten years planned? Impossible.), but she'll probably end up at grad school studying English and philosophy, because she is absurdly smart, which she would never tell you, because she's also a nice person. Sometimes she snorts and cries when she laughs, and she could probably make a gin and tonic in her sleep. She tweets as @SerenaHowe

(Under construction. There's just too much to say.)
